The transfer portal days of relying solely on high school recruiting to build a college program are over. Powerhouse programs once stockpiled elite talent annually through recruiting classes. Now, with the transfer portal, roster turnover has become constant, and success depends heavily on landing impactful transfers. Here are some Razorback transfers that have made an immediate impact in recent years.

Quarterbacks
Taylen Green transferred from Boise State last offseason after KJ Jefferson’s departure. He started all 13 games in 2024, totaling 3,756 yards, 602 rushing and 3,154 passing, with 23 touchdowns, ranking second in single-season total yards behind Ryan Mallett. He’s expected to be a key player for Arkansas this season.
Feleipe Franks transferred from Florida and joined for the 2020 season, setting a school record with a 68.5% completion rate, throwing for 2,017 yards and 17 touchdowns. He earned spots on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list and Reese’s Senior Bowl Top 250.
Running Backs
Ja’Quinden Jackson transferred from Utah and led Arkansas in rushing in 2024. He became the first Razorback since Alex Collins in 2015 to score 15 rushing touchdowns in a season, including six 100-yard games and a six-game scoring streak.
Rodney Hill came from Florida State and played 10 games in 2024, rushing for 184 yards and two touchdowns. His breakout performance was an 81-yard rushing game in the Liberty Bowl. Hill is also a key returner heading into 2025.
Wide Receivers
Andrew Armstrong transferred from East Texas A&M Commerce in 2023 and led the SEC in 2024 with 78 receptions, 1,140 yards, and 10 touchdowns, earning First-Team All-SEC honors. Over two seasons, he totaled 134 catches for 1,904 yards and 10 TDs.
Matt Landers came over from Toledo and led Arkansas in receiving yards 901 and touchdowns 8 in 2022. Which ranked among the program’s top single-season performers. He had four 100-yard games, including a 121-yard Liberty Bowl outing.
Jadon Haselwood transferred from Oklahoma and led Arkansas with 59 catches for 702 yards in 2022, starting all 12 games.

Tight Ends
Var’Keyes Gumms from North Texas appeared in 16 games over two seasons, mostly on special teams, with three catches.
Andreas Paaske transferred from Eastern Michigan and started two games in 2024, catching three passes for 19 yards and two touchdowns.
Offensive Line
Addison Nichols (Tennessee) had some key starts in 2024 as a redshirt sophomore and helped the team put up some big offensive performances. He showed great versatility when he made his first career start at center for Arkansas.
Fernando Carmona (San Jose State) anchored the line in 2024. He started all 13 games at left tackle, helping Arkansas rank 10th nationally in total offense. Carmona earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice and Third-Team All-SEC honors.
Ty’kieast Crawford from Charlotte played multiple positions from 2021–24, starting nine games and excelled in pass protection.
Keyshawn Blackstock came in from Michigan State and started nine games in 2024, contributing to Arkansas’s top 10 national offense.
Joshua Braun from Florida started all 25 games in 2023 and 2024, earning Second-Team All-SEC honors and academic accolades.

Defensive Line
John Ridgeway started 11 of 12 games in 2021 after transferring in from Illinois State, he recorded 39 tackles and two sacks in his lone season with the Hogs.
Landon Jackson transferred from LSU and over three seasons became a dominant pass rusher with 16 career sacks and multiple honors, including First-Team All-SEC.
Terry Hampton came to the Hogs from Arkansas State and started three games in 2022, recording 25 tackles and two sacks.
Tre Williams from Missouri led Arkansas in sacks with 6 in 2021 and earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors.

Linebackers
Drew Sanders from Alabama was a unanimous All-American in 2022, leading Arkansas with 103 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks. He was a finalist for the Butkus Award.
Xavian Sorey Jr. started all 13 games in 2024, leading the team with 99 tackles and earning Defensive MVP honors in the Liberty Bowl. He will be a key piece to the 2025 Arkansas defense.

Cornerbacks
Dwight McGlothern came from LSU and played two seasons for the Hogs. In 2022, his first season, led the team with 10 pass deflections and four interceptions. Then in 2023 he had one of the highest coverage grades nationally according to Pro Football Focus.
Alfahiym Walcott from Baylor in 2023 made significant contributions, recorded 56 tackles and three interceptions, including a touchdown.
Doneiko Slaughter was a steady starter in 2024 after transferring from Tennessee. In his season with the Hogs, he had 78 tackles, a sack, an interception, and six pass breakups.
Honorable mention: Marquise Robinson (South Alabama)
Safeties
Latavious Brini who transferred in from Georgia played in all 13 games and started nine games in 2022. He finished with 55 tackles, and an interception.
Miguel Mitchell came from Florida and appeared in five games in 2024 after returning from an injury ending the season with 20 tackles and an interception, including a standout Liberty Bowl with eight tackles and a 47-yard interception return.
Honorable mention: Anthony Switzer (Utah State)
Kicker
Matthew Shipley transferred form Hawaii and was reliable in 2024. He made multiple long field goals including 40+ yarders in the Liberty Bowl and setting career-long marks. He scored 16 points in the win over Mississippi State and consistently converted extra points.
Punter
Devin Bale from North Colorado punted 41 times in 2024 with a 45.2-yard average, ranking in the top 20 nationally. He contributed with long punts, downed kicks inside the 20, kickoff duties with multiple touchbacks, tackles, and a 25-yard run on a fake punt, the longest for an Arkansas punter since 2021.
