Arkansas basketball took a break following its eight-week summer workout session, but the road to the 2024-25 season starts back up this weekend for John Calipari and the Hogs.
After two weeks off, the Razorbacks are set to return to campus in the coming days ahead of the start of fall semester classes.
“The staff and the players have all taken a couple weeks off and get back this weekend,” Calipari said in a recent post on X.
“We set the foundation for the culture we are looking to establish this summer that will drive players individually and collectively. We want talented players who are grinders, who play for each other and play to win.”
The next several weeks for Arkansas will be similar to the summer as the Hoop Hogs partake in up to eight hours per week of skill development, weight training and conditioning with a maximum of four weekly hours allotted to on-floor practice time.
Arkansas will ramp things up to full, official practices in late-September in advance of a highly-anticipated Year 1 of the Calipari era on the Hill.
“It appears that all of you Razorback Fans are just as excited as I am as you have already bought all the season tickets,” Calipari added. “Let me say thank you for your belief in this group!
“Let me say this, what we look like at the beginning is not what we will look like at the end. Let’s all of us enjoy the growth of this team throughout the season so that we are all at our best in March. Can’t wait to get back on campus this weekend!”
Arkansas has not released its full non-conference schedule at this time, but the slate is set to include marquee several marquee matchups, including Michigan at Madison Square Garden, Illinois in Kansas City on Thanksgiving Day and a true road game at Miami in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
The Razorbacks have only one holdover from last season’s roster in junior forward Trevon Brazile, who will be flanked by a host of newcomers that features top transfers Johnell Davis and Jonas Aidoo, a trio of former Kentucky players and three five-star freshmen.
