Arkansas Falls to Auburn

The Hogs led Auburn heading into the fourth quarter, but a late collapse allowed the Tigers to rally for a 33-24 win. Turnovers once again proved costly, as Arkansas’ search for its first SEC victory continues.

Game Summary

Arkansas received the opening kickoff and put together a solid drive before turning the ball over on downs at the Auburn 30-yard line. The Tigers capitalized, driving 67 yards for a touchdown, the only points of the first quarter.

The Razorbacks responded with a strong second quarter, scoring two offensive touchdowns and adding a pick-six to take a 21-10 halftime lead.

The third quarter was dominated by field goals, two from Auburn and one from Arkansas, as the Razorbacks entered the fourth quarter ahead 24-16. That’s when things unraveled. All four Arkansas possessions in the fourth quarter ended in turnovers, while Auburn scored 17 unanswered points to complete the comeback and secure their first SEC win of the season.

What Went Wrong for Arkansas

Turnovers once again proved to be the Achilles’ heel for the Razorbacks. The first interception in the fourth quarter was returned for a touchdown, giving Auburn the lead. Just two plays later, Arkansas fumbled, and from there, the game slipped away.

Auburn also shut down the Razorbacks’ rushing attack, which had been one of their strengths this season. Arkansas managed only 63 yards on the ground. Mike Washington Jr. was limited to 41 yards on 12 carries, while Taylen Green added just 14 yards on seven carries. Though the passing game produced some big plays, three late interceptions sealed the Hogs’ fate.

Who Stood Out for Arkansas

Tight end Rohan Jones was a bright spot, hauling in three receptions for 127 yards. Wide receiver Raylen Sharpe also made an impact with two catches for 63 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown.

Defensive back Kani Walker recorded the Hogs’ first forced turnover since the Memphis game, returning an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also posted nine tackles and two pass breakups. Defensive lineman Quincy Rhodes Jr. added two sacks, extending his team lead.

Looking Ahead for Arkansas

The Razorbacks will look to bounce back when they host Mississippi State on Nov. 1. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CST on SEC Network.
