Arkansas football held its first scrimmage of fall camp Thursday morning, and head coach Sam Pittman shared the latest injury update on several Razorbacks when he met with media afterwards.
As far as the scrimmage itself was concerned, Pittman believed the team came out mostly injury-free.
However, several expected contributors have missed significant time in the first week of practices, and the coaching staff elected to hold out many more out of precaution who were dealing with minor injuries.
“None of these guys are long-term,” Pittman said. “I’m not worried about any of those guys. I’ll be honest with you, sometimes in these first scrimmages you can hold guys a little bit if there’s some problems that could magnify.”
Latest on Patrick Kutas
Starting offensive lineman Patrick Kutas stands out as the most concerning of the wounded Razorbacks as he continues to deal with a bothersome back, but Pittman believes he will return at some point in camp.
“Pat Kutas has got a back,” Pittman said. “So, we’re resting it. We’ve rested it for a few days. We feel like we’ll get him back. I’m not positive.
“It may be another week. It may be another week and a half, but we feel good we’re going to get him back.”
Several in concussion protocol
According to Pittman, Arkansas has been stung by the concussion bug with tight end Luke Hasz, defensive ends Anton Juncaj and John Hill and cornerback Marquise Robinson all currently in protocol.
“They’ve all been out different times, so depending on when they get back,” Pittman said. “I think Anton was the first one, so I anticipate him to be back this coming week. Marquise would be the next one, and then Luke’s was just recent and John Hill’s was just recent.”

Playing it safe with skill positions
Running back duo JaQuinden Jackson (ankle) and Rashod Dubinion (knee) were both held out for precaution, as were wide receivers Tyrone Broden (turf toe) and Andrew Armstrong (hamstring). None of the above are expected to miss significant time.
“Rashod Dubinion did not play today because of swelling on his knee,” Pittman said. “JaQuinden Jackson has a mild ankle sprain. Tyrone Broden, we didn’t play him today for turf toe. Some of these guys will be back tomorrow, but we held them today.
“Armstrong has a slight hamstring, too.”
