After a tough start to the conference season, Arkansas will travel to Baton Rouge in search of its first SEC win under head coach John Calipari. The Razorbacks will aim to find more offensive rhythm following a 71-63 loss to No. 8 Florida. The LSU Tigers are also looking for their first conference win of the season after falling 77-65 to No. 23 Ole Miss.
Previewing LSU
The Tigers are 9-1 at home this season and average 81.2 points per game. They are led by senior guard Cam Carter, who averages 17.1 points while shooting 44.6% from the field, 39.6% from three-point range, and 89.7% from the free-throw line. Freshman forward Corey Chest leads LSU in rebounding, averaging 7.2 boards per game.
In their last 10 games, the Tigers are 6-4, with losses to No. 23 Ole Miss, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and SMU. Defensively during this stretch, LSU has averaged eight steals and five blocks per game.
In their most recent game against Ole Miss, LSU had three players score in double figures, Carter, forward Daimion Collins, and guard Jordan Sears. The Tigers shot 40.7% from the field, 22.6% from three-point range, and 100% from the free-throw line. The Rebels’ defense forced 17 turnovers, leading to 23 points for Ole Miss.
Previewing Arkansas
After a disappointing three-game stretch to start SEC play, the Razorbacks need to get back in the win column. In a competitive conference, any victory will bolster their resume for an NCAA tournament bid. Arkansas will rely on Adou Thiero, who leads the team in scoring, rebounds, and steals.
The Razorbacks must find more offensive consistency than they showed against No. 8 Florida. In that loss, Arkansas shot 30% from the field, 18.8% from three-point range, and 68.6% from the free-throw line. Despite starting the game with a nine-point lead, their offense faltered down the stretch. However, their defense did hold Florida to its lowest scoring game of the season.
