Arkansas will Host No. 3 Texas in Fayetteville

Arkansas (5-4, 3-3 SEC) is set to host No. 3 Texas (8-1, 4-1 SEC) at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Nov. 16, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. CST.

This will be the 80th meeting between the Razorbacks and Longhorns, with Arkansas winning the last two matchups. The Razorbacks are coming off a bye week after losing 63-31 to No. 11 Ole Miss on Nov. 2. Meanwhile, Texas is coming off a 49-17 win against the Florida Gators on Nov. 9.

Key Players for Arkansas

Taylen Green, Quarterback

Green was sidelined in the second half of the loss to Ole Miss after sustaining an injury earlier in the game. He has been practicing and is expected to play on Saturday. Green is fourth in the SEC in passing yards, and his ability to scramble forces defenses to adjust quickly.

Ja’Quinden Jackson, Running Back

Jackson is listed as probable after dealing with injuries throughout the season. He started the year strong and was one of the SEC’s top rushers. However, since the win against Tennessee on Oct. 5, Jackson has only made one appearance, on Oct. 19 against LSU, where he had five rushes for 26 yards. With freshman running back Braylen Russell listed as questionable, Jackson’s presence in the backfield will be crucial for Arkansas.

TJ Metcalf, Defensive Back

Metcalf has been a key contributor for the Razorbacks this season, leading the team with three interceptions and ranking third in total tackles with 44. He will need to play a significant role in containing Texas’ potent passing offense, which ranks third in the SEC, averaging over 300 passing yards per game. Arkansas struggled against the Ole Miss passing attack, allowing more than 560 yards in their last game.

Xavian Sorey Jr., Linebacker

Sorey has been a defensive leader for the Razorbacks, leading the team with 73 total tackles. He’s coming off a game in which he tied his season high with 13 tackles. Against Texas, Sorey will need to have a standout performance in both pass defense and run stopping to slow down the Longhorns’ offense.

Trends to Watch

Texas excels in the passing game, led by experienced quarterback Quinn Ewers and a talented receiving corps. Arkansas’ defense has struggled against the pass, ranking last in the SEC in passing yards allowed per game. The Razorbacks will need to pressure Ewers and prevent him from finding a rhythm.

On offense, Arkansas averages the second-most yards in the SEC. However, Texas’ defense has been one of the best in the conference, leading in both points allowed and yards allowed. The Razorbacks must play smart, protect the football, and avoid costly turnovers to stay competitive in this game.
