Arkansas is riding an eight-game win streak and will host Portland in its final nonconference weekend series before SEC play begins at Ole Miss on March 15-17. The Razorbacks enter the weekend after a two-game sweep over ULM and ranked No. 3 in the country. While Portland is 5-8 and coming of a 0-3 loss to Washington in their last outing.
Previewing Portland
The Pilots are hitting .242 as a team, led by Brady Bean, who is batting .365 in 52 at-bats with 19 hits, two home runs and a team-high 13 RBIs. Portland has hit 11 home runs this season with four different players with two home runs, which is the team high.
Portland is set to start Carter Gaston in Game 1. Gaston has a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts, 17 hits allowed and one home run surrendered. Kaden Segel will start Game 2 with a 2.57 ERA in 14 innings and 17 strikeouts. Ryan Rembisz will close the series in Game 3 for Portland. He has a 2.18 ERA in 20 2/3 innings, allowing just 10 hits and striking out 24.
Previewing Arkansas
Arkansas enters the weekend with a .318 team batting average through 13 games. The Razorbacks are led by Kuhio Aloy, who is hitting .556 in 36 at-bats with 20 hits, six home runs, 26 RBIs and a .628 on-base percentage. Arkansas has hit 22 home runs as a team, with 10 different players contributing at least one.
Gabe Gaeckle will get the start in Game 1 for Arkansas. Gaeckle has a 7.24 ERA in 13 2/3 innings with 16 hits allowed and 12 strikeouts. Zach Root will take the mound in Game 2 with a 2.93 ERA in 15 1/3 innings and a team-high 26 strikeouts. Landon Beidelschies will close the series in Game 3 with a 1.29 ERA in 14 innings, allowing nine hits with 14 strikeouts.
