John Calipari and Arkansas basketball are set to host another five-star visitor in 2025 standout guard Meleek Thomas beginning on Sept. 13, according to a report by Joe Tipton at On3.com.
Thomas, a 6-3 shooting guard out of Philadelphia who is playing with Overtime Elite, ranks as a consensus top-10 prospect in his class by all major recruiting services.
The visit for Thomas was originally scheduled to take place in July, but was postponed shortly after Arkansas landed the commitment of fellow five-star guard Darius Acuff.
Now, Calipari will look to pair the duo up in what would be a star-studded backcourt for the future.
Thomas has already taken visits to Pitt, Auburn and UConn and is also scheduled to make a trip to Alabama on Sept. 27.
He currently has a top-7 list of suitors that includes Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State, Pitt and UConn.
A big-time guard with major scoring pop, deep range and ability to create off the bounce, Thomas is also a willing and capable perimeter defender who profiles as one of the most complete guards in the 2025 class.
The Sept. 13-14 weekend, which corresponds with Arkansas football’s home opener against UAB, is shaping up to be massive on the recruiting front for Calipari and the Hoop Hogs, who are also scheduled to host five-star forward Koa Peat alongside Thomas.
Arkansas also remains heavily involved with top-10 forward Caleb Wilson and five-star big man Chris Cenac, among others.
In his post-summer media availability with reporters, Calipari indicated he intends to take 3-4 freshmen in the upcoming recruiting cycle.
Any combination of Acuff, Thomas and one of the forwards Calipari is pursuing would not only give Arkansas one of the highest-rated classes in the country, it would rival the historic 2022 freshman class signed during Eric Musselman’s tenure in Fayetteville.
