Weathering Pacific’s Storm From Three

“I mean, it’s a game of runs. They did a successful job on defense and made shots on offense. We knew they were going to make shots, it’s a game of runs like I said and just being able to take adversity, going through with it, I feel like we flipped the switch and turned it on.

“Our mindset coming into games is everybody is going to give us our best shot. So being able to take hits, take adversity, I feel like — like I said, it’s a game of runs so making adjustments throughout the game and just staying disciplined and keeping our mind on the game plan and executing it.”

Defense Holds Pacific To No Baskets For 10 Minutes Down Stretch

“We trust our defense. I think we’re top 10 in defense in D1 basketball, so just staying disciplined and like I said, making adjustments throughout the game. I feel like that’s what we did and that’s what led to the 13 missed shots and 22-4 run.

“I feel like we like to play fast and just that fast-paced game, not everyone can do it. So, just being able to consistently do that, I feel like we had the game in our hands.”

“We definitely had to be conditioned, staying disciplined. Some of us got into foul trouble, myself included. And just locking in and staying with the game plan and executing it.

“You want those guys back so they can get some shine. It’s a team sport and just everybody doing it together because we love each other. We’re wishing they come back faster and going with the flow.”

“Just staying focused and staying with the training that we do and Coach Cal, I feel like he’s really getting better throughout the day and he knows it. And sticking with what he knows how to do in our offense and our play in general.” 

Hogs Have Hit 19 Threes in Two Games Since Slow Start

“I feel like it’s still early in the season, not many teams are shooting well. I feel like we’re going to keep getting in the gym and consistently shooting. Coach is going to have something to say regardless so I feel like we just have to stay mentally focused and keep knocking down shots and trusting ourselves and staying confident.”

Thiero Continues To Turn Heads

“He’s getting better. Future lottery pick I want to say. But we trust him, we love him and I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing. It helps us better. 

“The mindset you know coming into these games. Not worrying so much about the outside noise and just what we do as a team. I feel like that’s big for him and just taking what the defense gives him, not forcing it. 

“Active hands, hot hands. That’s what coach likes to say, so we kind of practice it. He can put his head on the rim. I’ve never seen a guy that can do that. He’s not from here, so I don’t know.”

“Just asserting myself in the offense, trusting what coach wants me to do and just trying to execute it. I’m a team player, so whatever coach wants me to do, I do. If we need a bucket then I’ll be the guy to fall back on, they know that. I feel like the whole coaching staff knows that, just being that point guard, that leader.”
