Arkansas basketball and head coach John Calipari have landed a massive commitment for the 2025 class in 5-star guard Meleek Thomas.
Thomas, a 6-3 shooting guard out of Philadelphia who is playing with Overtime Elite, ranks as a consensus 5-star prospect overall and top-3 shooting guard in his class by all major recruiting services.
He joins fellow 5-star Darius Acuff to give Arkansas a lethal 1-2 punch in the backcourt for the future.
Thomas took an official visit to Arkansas Oct. 4-6, with Acuff in town as well, and was on hand for the Razorback football upset victory over Tennessee.
Calipari and Arkansas won out in Thomas’ recruitment over an impressive list of suitors that included UConn, Alabama, Auburn, Pitt, Kansas State and others.
Thomas has gotten off to a blistering start to his senior season at Overtime Elite. Here is his most recent scouting report from On3:
“Meleek Thomas is a bucket-getter who is wired to score. He is electric when it comes to shooting the ball with range that extends well beyond the three-point arc and the confidence that extends to any level. He has good length with some quick-twitch pop to his game. Thomas is able to carve out space off the bounce.
“His dribble can get him open, and he has the ability to contort his body to get his shoulders squared upon release. He will need to continue adding weight to his frame. Scoring comes so easily to him, he can get shot happy. Thomas is a good on-ball defender and has natural instincts in the passing lanes. he is tracking as one of the top guards, nationally, in his class.”
With Acuff and Thomas locked in, Arkansas will look to round out its 2025 class with more fireworks as Calipari remains in the hunt for 5-stars Chris Cenac, Caleb Wilson, Nate Ament and top-30 wing Shon Abaev, as well as Sprindale (Ark.) native Isaiah Sealy.
