The last athletic year had fewer ups than downs for the Arkansas Razorbacks. A 4-8 football finish, sub-.500 basketball season and getting bumped by SEMO baseball in a home regional were tough pills to swallow. Thankfully, it’s moments like Saturday that make it all pay off in the long run, and the tide is turning. Here are 3 reasons why NOW is the perfect time to be a Razorback fan:
1.) This Is A Proud Damn State
Following the massive upset over Tennessee Saturday night, the entire state of Arkansas seems to be rejuvenated and reunited once again with excitement about the program and coaching staff.
The massive win for not only shushed those calling for Sam Pittman’s job, it validated what he has said about this group since it was assembled. A wounded fanbase wanted to believe, now they’ve been given an emphatic reason to do exactly that.
After the win, it was clear as day in the eyes of both the players and coaching staff how much it meant to them and how much they have all invested into finding this feeling again. Every one within ear shot of a microphone gave a shout out to the crowd for making an impact, and they did. This truly is a proud damn state.

2.) Arkansas Sports Are Back On The Rise
Football has officially joined the party of sports on campus catching the eye of the entire country.
Arkansas basketball is certainly in the spotlight with a loaded roster and the beginning of the John Calipari era right around the corner. The anticipation for the start of the season has been palpable throughout the state for months.
Dave Van Horn continues to reload year after year. Despite a disappointing finish in 2024, the Razorbacks have replenished the pitching staff and added some firepower to the offense to piece together another roster as talented as anyone in the country.
Arkansas women’s soccer is among the top teams in the country with a record of 9-1-1 and was ranked as high as number 1 in the nation this year.
Razorback track and field has become one of the most prominent programs in the country and has become a national powerhouse as they have won 51 national titles between both the men’s and women’s teams.
Jordyn Wieber has turned gymnastics into a must-watch event. Volleyball is 13-2 and unbeaten in SEC play. There is plenty to cheer about in Fayetteville.
3.) It Just Means More
One-score games have been a Kyrptonite for Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks — the fifth-year head coach is now 7-16 in such contests — but there have been signs of life this season.
No, things didn’t turn out as hoped in narrow losses at Oklahoma State and to Texas A&M (again) in Jerry World, but finishing late even in clunkers against UAB and Auburn set the stage for what took place Saturday night.
Arkansas has been in dogfights. Tennessee wasn’t ready for one.
There was plenty of doubt clouding the program, but the Hogs never flinched. They trusted the process. The fruits of the labor were evident when they toppled a top-5 opponent in Fayetteville for the first time since 1999.
It wasn’t a fluke. Arkansas was the better team for 60 minutes. The field storming and celebration was warranted, and it had less to do with the Vols than it did Pittman and the Razorbacks flipping the script and bringing the entire state back together once again.
Yes, right now is a perfect time to be a Razorback fan. Enjoy the moment that makes every heartbreak, tough loss and downswing more than worth it. Turn that damn jukebox on and soak it all in until game day rolls back around next weekend.
