Arkansas Falls to No. 3 Texas

Arkansas (5-5, 3-4 SEC) fell to No. 3 Texas (9-1, 5-1 SEC) in a 20-10 loss at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Saturday.

The Razorbacks struggled to move the ball consistently against a dominant Texas defense that sacked quarterback Taylen Green six times.

Game Summary

The game began as a defensive showdown, but a dropped catch turned into an interception during Arkansas’ second possession. Texas capitalized when quarterback Quinn Ewers connected with receiver Matthew Golden for a 20-yard touchdown pass. The Razorbacks’ offense failed to respond in the first half, though the defense kept them within reach as Texas carried a 10-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Arkansas found some offensive rhythm. On their second drive of the half, the Razorbacks marched 75 yards on 12 plays to cut the Texas lead to 13-7. The defense followed with a three-and-out, and Arkansas kicker Matthew Shipley converted a 44-yard field goal to narrow the deficit to 13-10.

Texas responded with an eight-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to extend the lead to 20-10 with nine minutes remaining. The Razorbacks had an opportunity to close the gap, but a fumble in Texas territory sealed the game for the Longhorns.

Offensive Struggles Continue

Arkansas’ offense was stagnant in the first half, with its longest drive covering just 29 yards over seven plays. Only two of their first-half drives exceeded three plays. While the offense improved in the second half, the offensive line struggled to protect Green, allowing six sacks and holding him to -4 rushing yards on 16 attempts.

The defense played well enough to keep Arkansas in the game, but turnovers once again proved costly for the Razorbacks.

What It Means for Arkansas
