Arkansas Takes Care of Business Against Grambling

No. 2 Arkansas defeated Grambling State 7-4 at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, improving to 27-3 on the season. The Razorbacks’ offense did not produce at the same level as their previous meeting with the Tigers but did enough to secure the win.

Game Summary

Arkansas got on the board in the first inning with a sacrifice fly by Brent Iredale to score Wehiwa Aloy from third base. Grambling responded in the top of the third, tying the game at 1-1, but the Razorbacks began to pull away in the bottom half of the inning. Aloy started the scoring with an RBI single to bring in Charles Davalan, followed by a two-RBI single from Carson Boles, who later scored on a wild pitch.

Arkansas finished with seven runs on seven hits, which proved enough to secure the victory. The Razorbacks were uncharacteristically sloppy on defense, committing two errors that helped Grambling keep the game closer than their previous matchup.

Who Stood Out for Arkansas

Cole Gibler made his eighth appearance this season and closed the game with two hitless innings. He only allowed one walk while striking out five to earn his second save of the season. Tate McGuire got the start, pitching four innings and allowing one run while facing 17 batters.

Aloy, who had hit a cold stretch in recent games, found his rhythm again, collecting two hits, an RBI, two walks, and three runs scored. Boles, making his fifth start of the season, led the team with three RBIs. Davalan continued his strong performance at the plate, recording two hits and scoring twice.

Looking Ahead for Arkansas

The Razorbacks will return to Fayetteville to host Missouri for a three-game series at Baum-Walker Stadium from April 4-6. Game 1 will be televised on SEC Network, while Games 2 and 3 will be streamed on SEC Network+.
