Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman provided the latest injury update on starting quarterback Taylen Green and several other Razorbacks during Wednesday’s SEC Weekly Teleconference.
“After six weeks in a row, I think everybody in this league is a little bit beat up,” Pittman said. “So, this bye week comes at a perfect time. Tennessee has a physical football team, so we are beat up. Hopefully we can get healthy, and we are preparing for LSU.”
Green was hit low and appeared to hyperextend his knee during the second half of Arkansas’ 19-14 upset over Tennessee. He re-entered briefly after being evaluated, but came back out for the remainder of the game after one play.
“We don’t think it’s an MCL now, more of a bone bruise,” Pittman said. “Very, very sore on him. Hopefully he’ll be back by LSU.
“It’ll kind of be day-to-day right now. Our diagnosis was that there was not any ligament damage.”
Arkansas has been beat up in the tight end room with Andreas Paaske sidelined in concussion protocol and both Luke Hasz and Ty Washington playing through injuries.
“I feel really good about Luke,” Pittman said. “We still have test results to get back on Paaske. Ty Washington should be ready by Monday.
“I think that room there will be back to full tilt by Monday.”
According to Pittman, starting kicker Kyle Ramsey sustained a “significant injury” during the game and is expected to “be out a while.” Matthew Shipley will assume the kicking duties.
Arkansas has been without offensive lineman Patrick Kutas (back) and cornerback Jaylon Braxton (knee) for an extended period of time. Pittman is hopeful the bye week will prove beneficial for both.
“We’re certainly hoping they can come back,” Pittman said. “Kutas practiced yesterday. Will practice again today. Braxton will be ready by Thursday. Hopefully we can get some of those guys back.”
Backup running back Rodney Hill was another inactive for Arkansas against Tennessee as he continues to recover from a knee sprain.
“It was an MCL,” Pittman said. “Rodney, we expect could be back by Monday. Probably not this week, but by Monday.”
