Diamond Hogs Set to Host Charlotte

The Hogs will welcome Charlotte to Baum-Walker Stadium after a 14-3 win against Grambling State, improving their record to 7-1. The 49ers enter the series with a 4-3 record, coming off an 8-1 win over Longwood.

Previewing Charlotte

The 49ers are hitting .226 as a team, with Dawson Bryce leading the way at .357 in 28 at-bats. Charlotte has hit six home runs this season, with Noah Furcht, Logan Poteet, and Cason Bayne each recording two. Bayne leads the team with 11 RBI despite a .185 batting average, while Poteet is second with seven RBI and a .267 average.

Charlotte’s projected starting pitchers are Mike Szturma in Game 1, Blake Gillespie in Game 2, and Andrew Kribbs in Game 3. Szturma has an 8.59 ERA in 7.1 innings, striking out four while allowing 12 hits. Gillespie has a 5.91 ERA in 10.2 innings, striking out 11 and giving up 10 hits. Kribbs holds a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings with nine strikeouts and four hits allowed.

Previewing the Hogs

Arkansas will be without Gage Wood, who left last weekend’s game against Michigan with an injury. Gabe Gaeckle will start Game 1, Zach Root will take Game 2, and Landon Beidelshies will pitch Game 3. Gaeckle has a 1.69 ERA in 10.2 innings, striking out nine while allowing six hits. Root leads the team with 18 strikeouts and has a 1.80 ERA while giving up just four hits. Beidelshies has the lowest ERA of any Razorback starter at 1.17, having pitched 7.2 innings with seven strikeouts and five hits allowed.

Offensively, three players have stood out for the Hogs. Kuhio Aloy leads the team with a .563 batting average in 16 at-bats, is second in RBI with nine, and is tied for the team lead in home runs with three. He is coming off a 4-for-4 performance against Grambling State. His brother, Wehiwa Aloy, has had a strong start to his second season, hitting .393 and tying Kuhio for the team lead in home runs. Brent Iredale is hitting .400, leads the team with 10 RBI, and has the second-most home runs with two.
