The Hogs will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face the Gamecocks on March 1. Arkansas is coming off a thrilling overtime win against Texas at Bud Walton Arena, while South Carolina enters the matchup following a 101-71 loss at Missouri.
Previewing South Carolina
The Gamecocks sit at the bottom of the SEC standings but secured their first conference win of the season against Texas on Feb. 22. They have also played competitively in close losses to Auburn, Vanderbilt, Florida, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.
Collin Murray-Boyles leads South Carolina in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. He is coming off a 27-point performance against Missouri and is averaging 16.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. Guard Jamrii Thomas is the only other Gamecock to average double-digit points. He’s putting up 13.5 points per game and shooting 38.3% from the field, 73.2% from the foul line, and 34.9% from three-point range. As a team, the Gamecocks average 70.1 points per game while shooting 43.2% from the field, 70.7% from the free-throw line, and 31.5% from three-point range.
Previewing the Hogs
Even without Adou Thiero in their last game, the Razorbacks edged out a close win over Texas with a seven-man rotation. Thiero’s status remains uncertain, so Arkansas will need contributions from across the roster to maintain its recent success. The Hogs are in a favorable position for an NCAA Tournament berth but need to continue stacking wins to strengthen their resume.
Zvonimir Ivisic has emerged as a key scorer and led the team with 18 points against Texas. He has also been a defensive presence this season, averaging two blocks per game, the second-best mark in the SEC.
Freshman Karter Knox has found his rhythm offensively, scoring in double figures in each of his last four games. Over that stretch, he has been efficient, shooting 70.6% from the field.
