As the Razorbacks open fall camp, head coach Sam Pittman met with the media and addressed several key areas of the roster. His comments reflected confidence in the team’s depth, leadership and preparation heading into a crucial 2025 season.
Pittman spoke extensively about this team’s depth, believing it could be one of the deepest rosters he’s had at Arkansas. With added depth has come increased competition at various positions.
“I think we have more depth than we’ve had since I’ve been here,” Pittman said. “You know, that changes a lot of things. When you’ve got guys pushing each other, it raises the level of practice, and effort goes up. Competition breeds greatness, and I feel like we’re seeing that in our room.”
Wide Receiver Room
The Hogs had to make several offseason moves at the wide receiver position, as most of their receiving production from last season did not return.
One player Pittman was asked about and spoke highly of was freshman wide receiver Antonio Jordan from Warren, Arkansas. Pittman was impressed with his speed, size and playmaking ability. Pittman also discussed leadership in the wide receiver room. He named Raylen Sharpe, O’Mega Blake, CJ Brown and Monte Harrison as standouts in that regard.
“If you ask the guys in the (wide receiver) room,” Pittman said, “they probably would say Monte Harrison is their leader.”
The only notable injury Pittman mentioned was wide receiver Ismael Cisse.
“As of right now, Ismael Cisse will not play this year,” Pittman said.

Other Position Battles in Fall Camp
The defensive secondary is one area Pittman hopes fall camp will help clarify in terms of player roles. Miguel Mitchell and Larry Worth are expected to anchor the safety spots, but battles for other positions in the secondary remain ongoing. Players like Caleb Wooden, Shakur Smalls, Jordan Young and Julian Neal are still working to find their best fits.
At linebacker, Xavian Sorey Jr. and Stephen Dix Jr. return with secure roles, but the other two linebacker spots are up for grabs. Pittman named Bradley Shaw, Trent Whalen, Tavion Wallace and Wyatt Simmons as players in the running for playing time and potential starting roles.
The Razorbacks also need to replace the production of Landon Jackson, Eric Gregory and Nico Davillier on the defensive line. The return of Cam Ball gives the coaching staff a veteran to build around. Pittman mentioned Danny Saili, Ian Geffrad and David Oke as standouts from spring ball, while Quincy Rhodes Jr., Phillip Lee, Ken Talley and Charlie Collins are also positioning themselves for more playing time.

As fall camp ramps up and the 2025 season approaches, the Razorbacks find themselves at a pivotal moment. With a mix of veteran leadership, new faces and a fresh sense of purpose, this team is focused on rewriting the narrative. The road won’t be easy, but there’s a quiet confidence building in Fayetteville.
“We’ve got a lot of guys that love the Razorbacks, and that matters. We’ve got talent, we’ve got experience, and now it’s time to go to work.”
